Here is the bad boy I'm borrowing from a friend. I was able to find a Singer 99k that needs some work to get up and running and I recently found a Singer 293 for $7 at a second hand store. Thinking I might search out a Slant-o-matic or featherweight at some point!

Singer 15-91? Picked up the 15-91, similar looking model to your machine a while back from the local thrift store. Pre-WWII unit. Every time I do a little routine maintenance (cleaning & oiling) the machine impress me. No plastic. Cast or forged arms & cams. Just a straight stitch machine that is showing a bit cosmetic aging, but still functional.

Yep 15-91, I know my mother and grand mother made a lot of stuff with just straight stitch machines...

I'm learning on a "singer simple" thread injector but it's no where as cool as the oldies on this thread. It's amazing to me that some of the oldies are still in service. If I get they hang of this I will definately look into an antiquer!

My Brother disintegrated yesterday while re-sizing a baseball hat.
So I went for a new/old Singer 328K. I'll post pics when she gets home.
I'll hafta see if I can get the Brother fixed for some lightweight work. I guess 10 yrs is pretty good for a cheap plastic machine. I guess I've been pretty hard on the ol' guy.
I was told there'd be no math on this exam. ~T.D.

Right after I shot this pic, the singer simple died doing bartacks on webbing and cordura. I got it going again, that machine just won't die.
Wow, that's real working horse! Congrats on the steal!

I have been using a Singer 401 but recently found this Singer 99K Handcrank. It sews great and is easier to use on anything small. You can sew extremely slow with it, if you need to do a critical area.
