I've used my Consew 226R with very lightweight fabric... didn't bother to change the needle or thread, just stretched out the fabric and pulled from both sides. I got away with it! Love those walking feet...

My Nechhi is where I usually do lightweight work.

smaller thread and alot less tension helps too. having 2 machines doesn't hurt either

Here's my main machine, a Juki 241H compound feed with Reliable servo motor:

I also have my grandmother's Necchi DU for lightweight work. I believe it was the first domestic zig-zag imported into the US in the 50's.

I think mine does both... the outer foot walks; the inner foot walks opposite strides, with the needle going with it thru a hole in the inner foot.

For anyone unclear about the various machine head types, here's a primer:
    http://diytactical.com/blog/index.ph...achine-primer/

Mine's a full-on compound feed, in that the needle moves in unison with the inner foot as it walks, probably like MacEntyre's.

Warbonnet: I got a steal on this machine! It was $400 with a clutch motor and I upgraded that to a nice used Reliable servo for $100 more. The previous owner purchased it new for her outdoor gear prototyping company, but before they took delivery, the company decided to off-shore the process and sent the delivered machines to a warehouse. I'm essentially the first owner.

I can't believe that no-one has one of these.

Sad to say but this is the only thread injector that I own at the moment, but it is mine.

I must say though that it has done a fair bit of injecting.. I have used it to modify mostly webbing on some of my scuba diving equipment.
