When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".
Like, in Seattle proper? *Any park you can find two trees, really. Or poles! Hammocks are great for watching parades--such as Torchlight last weekend. Which neighborhood are you in? There's always a few hammocks out in the wooded area of Golden Gardens along with a slackline or two. But since school is out, it's full of Ballard youth getting high *shrug* so I tend to avoid it. Magnolia parks are fairly empty and the people who are there are typically locals. I've hammocked there, lazily throwing the ball for my dog, from the hammock, almost nodding off watching the Sound.
Mercer is a good choice too, since you can hammock, paddle, drink a beer and go back to napping. You'll have less big-city issues here.
* I've never had a problem hanging in any park, but I'm going to assume there'd be complaints at the Arboretum.
I'm in Des Moines. I didn't know if the parks or state parks allowed hammocks. Sometimes I go fly fishing and if I were to find a good spot to hang, would a ranger tell me to pack up? Just don't want a hassle. Balcony hanging has no rules.
