Great video. Looks like you guys had a blast. I hear that section of trail is pretty tough. I wouldn't have wanted to step out to civilization either, but all journeys must come to an end. Look forward to the next trip. I'd be interested in a packing list, or a "whats in my pack" video. Happy hiking!

I did that section a couple of years ago and we stayed in Cold Springs shelter and the mice were terrible. That was the last time I left my hammock at home.

Great video, thanks for taking us along. Imagine my surprise when you whipped out your water filter system, thanks for the linky.

Go back and hang on that area above the shelter. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the kind words. Love that filter set up. Definitely deserve the recognition. Certainly made a difference in my hiking life.

Many thanks for sharing that. I did Winding Stair Gap to Fontana two years ago and remember the area well. I believe I enjoyed the Nantahalas more than the Smokies. The best thing about your video is that it brings back great memories of hikes with my son. He is grown now and lives 5 hours away, so we don't hike together as much as we used to. Keep collecting good memories with your son. The Trail is a great place for it.
BTW, after that long walk down, did you enjoy one of those burgers at Rivers Edge?

My son and I destroyed a large carnivore pizza and part of a large cheese pizza we got for the wife and daughter. Awesome.
