Has anyone ever tried it for an insulation pad?
Has anyone ever tried it for an insulation pad?
Yup. Sweaty mess. I just keep putting it up for cozies every time I make a cook pot now
I use it. I use a sleeping bag for a TQ and my bag has a space to slide in an air mattress. I slide in my reflectix instead. Love it!
Oh, and during the July hang, I was a bit cold and a fellow hanger let me borrow his and it was wonderful.

I carry a sit pad sized piece with me. It can go into the footbox of my TQ or under me to kill a cold spot, but just gets used for a sit pad instead. Imagine that. That's just JRB and HG doing their jobs.
Works great to save your butt on a cold night, if you are spending much time around the fire pit, in a camp chair like an Alite .

Some aluminum tape and reflectix makes a good cozy for freezer bag meal rehydration....
Use it in the bottoms of my backpacks to shield the sleeping bags against anything damp, mildly wet. Use it as a sitting pad, a hammock liner, base to put my Big Agnes air pads on when ground camping, etc. Tonight I got bored and cut 6 pieces to for the six slots of the Clark nx-270 (which is where I write this from). So far, even just inside my room, much warmer but not hints of clammynes. If you sleep directly on it expect to wake up wet as it doesn't breathe at all but when used as a layer its fantastic.

I made a reflectix pad that I roll up and attach to the bottom of my pack. It has countless uses: as a sleeping pad for my dog below my hammock; a place to work from when preparing meals; as a dry and clean table to play cards at night beside a campfire; and I have used it in my hammock when I still used the Hennessy Hammock SuperShelter.
I use mine in my hammock as bottom insulation a lot without any moisture issues. That said I think I've decided that reflectix is one of those things that works for about 50% of the people, and it doesn't work for the rest. It depends on how your body reacts to a moisture barrier being under you. The only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself.
My son brings his as an additional layer to his pad in winter camping. He's a ground dweller but says he can tell a difference adding it above his ccf pad.
