    A HH clone without velcro

This discussion took place in another thread and got me to thinking - could a HH clone be made without the velcro? It would seem that the hammock body would close up without sealing to me. What think ye wise DIYers?

The complete inability to be discrete about my entrances and exits has been noted though.

What about closing it with those hook thingies that you close a bra with?

I'm not in the 'wise DIYer' category, but I'm pretty sure that the earliest HH models didn't even have velcro, and I think that the Ultralight Racer model still doesn't.

Guys have enough trouble with those things when they are on a bra. I couldn't imagine trying to get those undone in the middle of the night with a bladder about to burst.

I would say that removing the velcro would work fine. I had never thought about the whole "announcing your midnight potty breaks" thing before. I camp alone quite a bit so it's usually not an issue, but the next time I am camping with other people I will be very self-conscious about going to the bathroom. Thanks for that.

Your right, that model doesn't. When I would get in mine, my weight would hold it shut. The JRB nest uses most or all of the velcro anyways.

At one point in my life I was a Kung Fu master at the one-handed-remove-the-bra technique. I'm married now so I don't get the practice I use to.

    AMEN!

How about some strips of felt? When combined with the bear-trap action of the closing slit, I'd think that would pretty much seal the opening from any bug recon and it'll be quiet.
