    1mm guy lines method

    Found a way to have 1mm guy lines that are easy to tension and ultra light

    I never thought I would mess with my current tarp setup, but you have me thinking about it. Primarily more for something to mess with than saving weight, though.

    Very interesting. Will have to track down some that size, not a real common size line for bass fishing in the local lakes...
    And even if you saw it yourself, you wouldn't believe it

    How low do you think you could go, test wise? 200 lbs? 100 lbs? Why did you choose 300lb test?

    I'm interested in using it for my tarp ridgeline as well.

    I would not go below 150lb as you are starting to push to the limit in high winds etc.

    Less than 1mm it does start to get very difficult, with it cutting through things and becoming more of a snare than a guy line

    So at the moment i will stick with 1mm

    This is also the minimum i think i can splice

    That's what I was thinking. On a tarp even in moderate wind, it's not so much the brute strength, but rather the fraying and cutting a very thin cord can do.
