Hey everyone! I've been camping on again off again for over 20 years, but just starting out with hanging. Looking forward to using my hammock, a used Dream Hammock Thunderbird, and picking up any good hints and tips. Thanks.

Welcome to hammock forums. Let us know if you have any questions and by all means have fun hanging above the hard ground.
Welcome! Loads of info here. Be sure to check out the stickies. The list of abbreviations really helped me read the board!

Welcome to the forums from Marietta GA. Happy hanging!
You should have a lot of fun with it. I used to love camping but hadn't been out for years, since I am old and out of shape and sleeping on the ground can basically cripple my back for days after. Yuck. So last year I heard about hammock camping and there is NO contest. I have never slept more comfortably in my life than in my Blackbird XLC hammock. I took a few successful hammock camps and I was hooked. Now I have a stand built and spend almost every night in it, either in the backyard or indoors. Best thing ever! It seemed like a lot as I went along, but now that I have bought a great hammock, underquilt, and topquilt I feel like it was more than worth every penny spent on the quality gear. Cheers!
