    Wool Batting for a quilt?

What are your thoughts on using wool batting in a quilt?
It is packaged the same as the polyester batting that you would find at wallie world but is wool.
I have been looking at sleeping bags and know that I do not want a mummy bag....can't stand the confinement. And the rectangle bags are too heavy. Cannot afford down... LIke the ray way quilt(do not knoe the weight) and thought maybe I could use the wool batting in this way...
    What do you think?

Wool is some pretty nasty stuff when wet. I also wonder what the weight difference would be; seems to me wool would be very heavy. But, I bet it'd be warm!

seems like some one looked into that before & the wool was a lot heaver than synthetic.
synthetic is pretty warm stuff & much cheaper than down. easier for most people to work w/ too. ...tim

I would be afraid of it being itchy and wet wool stinks. It would be warm.

I've made two ray way quilts, one standard at 22 oz, and one with the Alpine upgrade at 27 oz, and they have a lot of loft for their weight in a synthetic. The temp ratings seem right on the money and I sleep cold. Nice kits to put together as well, one of them was my first project and really got me hooked on making stuff.

That is only 1 oz on the standard and 1.5 on the upgrade heavier than my down rectangle quilts.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
