    My First Try DIY Hammock

I spent $152.81 on Dutch's website and I had access to my grandmother's old Kenmore sewing machine. I already had 100% silicon clear and a canister of mineral spirits but that'd be around 10 bucks at walmart if you wanted to factor that into your build cost. This was my first hammock and first time sewing, but I'm very happy with the results. Got a great deal of advice from the forum and I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of yall who put out these very thorough guides. Would like some feedback and/or advice on anything that needs to be done. I've slept in it on 2 trips now and it seems to be very comfortable/dry/bug free.

Looks like you did a great job! And nice that you have a great work horse sewing machine to boot! Welcome, and happy hanging, from Maryland.

Thank you guys for such a warm welcome and I'm glad i found these forums! I can thank Shug for directing me here
Yea Kale that machine is over triple my age and still kicking hard. I'm lovin the hang so far, and it's awesome to hear from people from all over. Maryland seems like a great place to visit someday.
I am suitably proud that my attempt was capable of even meager impressing.

My first DIY hammock is in a very dark corner of the "gear room". It might not ever see the light of day again....ever!!

You, on the other hand, have every reason to show off your work. Well done!

You should think about bringing that great looking setup to Uwharrie for the group hang planned for Nov. 4-6. Check the "southeast" link in the outings section.

Thanks Karla and Goobie, I appreciate that. Would love to see all yall's hammock setups, I could learn a thing or two.
Thank you for making me aware of the outing section Gfstanley, that's amazing! My current ship date is the 19th, but it may change last minute. If it does, I'll definitely make my way out there. Looks like a ton of fun!
