    Talking Hello from Dallas, Tx

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. I am not new to camping or hiking but new to hammock camping. My wife and daughter are both excited about hammock camping. We bought all of our materials to make our own hammocks, bug nets, and tarps. That all arrived yesterday and we plan to start this weekend on the construction. Going to try and make the fall hang in Fairfield,Tx with the family. I have enjoyed reading for hours on this forum and learning about all the different equipment.

    Thank you for your hospitality

Welcome to Hammock forums. Sounds like you've hit the ground running. Be sure to post some pics of your gear when you get it done. Have fun handing.

Welcome to the family. I lived in your neck of the woods for 30+ years. If you ever decide to hike the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail give me a shout. We'll show you some great spots to hang.

I don't ever tip toe into the water on anything. I am already a few hundred dollars invested in this The best part is my wife and teen daughter are just as excited as I am. My daughter picked out red and grey for her hammock, wife picked out royal blue with lime green stitching, and I am doing a dark green/olive drag combo with grey silpoly tarps for all. I will definitely post pics of our new gear as we complete it.

It's always good to see other hangers from Texas! Glad to see you've got the whole family involved - you're not only having fun now, you're creating memories. That's good stuff.

Howdy. Believe it or not you're in a great area for hammocking. Did you know that Dallas is home to the country's largest urban bottomland forest? If you haven't already, you might consider hiking into the Great Trinity Forest for a hang. We've also got Cedar Hill State Park right here. Within a 2 hour drive we've got the piney woods of East Texas, the jewels of which being Mission Tejas State Park and the Davey Crockett National Forest.
