VIDEO: Summer Trip in to the High Uintas

We've been talking about going to Red Castle for a few years now and since I was spending a few weeks in Utah this year, it was time!

    We did a 4 day / 3 night trip.

We started at the China Meadows trailhead and took trail 110.1 to the bridge on the East Fork of Smith Fork Creek. Since it was late, we decided to camp there and then go to Red Castle the next day. We stayed on trail 110.1 and it turned into trail 110.2. We camped at Lower Red Castle Lake. We took the same route out and all told it was about a 22 mile trip.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this. I took my first trip to the Uintas this summer, into Grandaddy Basin. We went to a lake that was well off trail and had the place to ourselves for our 3 day stay. Red Castle might be on the list for next summer.

Idaho is actually my home state. If you get this way again, shoot me a message and we'll head to the hills!

Very nice video and beautiful area. Nice narration voice to boot. Thanks for taking the time to do this and share with us. What were the temps in that area like in July?

I don't recall exactly, but I know that I was over dressed. It was plenty warm. You see us wearing long sleeves but that was mainly as a defense against the mosquitos. They were thick!
