No, never heard of Kisatchie. This was in/near Gulf Islands National Seashore. Bears are the new nuisance these days. Last week it was coyotes; we've gotten used to them, now. Many disappeared pets, "have you seen me" flyers on telephone poles.

Kisatchie is in central Louisiana, near Alexandria. It has a beautiful wilderness area with sandstone and a few nice overlooks, which is an unusual thing for Louisiana.

Why do you think those animals are becoming a problem? Are people feeding them, or are they overpopulating?

Florida just had a large bear hunt last year; there are just more of them.

They're talking about raising our trash rates to pay for bear-proof cans. They HAVE been seen on our street, and even our driveway.

What still bothers me is that it approached silently, and from my blind quarter. Took the relax right out of the nature part.
