    It's not the number of wraps, it's the amount of surface of strap to tree bark.

    Good tip. I don't let my tree straps hang to the ground either. It does give bugs easier access, can accidentally trap critters, & be a tripping hazard.

    tensionless hitch. no knot. high stregth tie off.
    just some of the many names for the hitch created by wrapping rope or webbing around an anchor. in abseiling/rope access it is used often, minimum of 4 wraps will hold the full weight of the rating of the rope on most surfaces. i use this to hang from polished 3inch metal pipes.
