    New hanger in Eastern PA

So I'm technically not a hanger yet....but I'm in the process of building my first camping hammock. I've slept in hammocks before, but always those bulky lounge types!

Anyway, lemme tell you a little bit about myself. I enjoy long moonlight walks in the woods, I enjoy pina-colatas, and getting caught in......wait no, that's a song. Sorry!

I'm a structural engineer by trade, and a closet DIYer with a hankering for getting back to nature. I'm planning a week long trip through the 100 Mile Wilderness in Maine with my brother for next summer, and in the process of researching gear, I came across you wonderful folks and your amazing DIY forum. Anything a guy/gal could dream of building, I'm sure it's in there!

I look forward to taking the plunge, and hopefully my first DIY isn't a complete failure! (Though I did just make 6 whoopie slings in an hour!)

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. Check out the trip planning section for group hangs near you. You can learn a lot at a group hang. We have a couple in NJ coming up in October and November.

Hey! I'm a new hanger in Happy Valley that has enjoyed some great trips this past summer. Did the AFT and Old Loggers Trail this past summer (with tent - ugh) and scheduled for the John Saylor trail late October, my first multiday hang. I travel for work and have been hanging in state parks in MD and VA. I have an HH Asym bottom or "birth canal" entry as I like to call it and a Super Shelter that I purchased recently. So far so good. Every night I sleep in the hammock I sleep a little better. I have a cheap mummy bag and looking forward to seeing "how low can I go" temperature-wise. Plan on using a jungle blanket as a TQ by hanging it from my fly ridge line. Comments/advice welcomed.

It's so nice to see positive comments online vs the nastiness I see on Twitter. Those trolls need to spend more time in the woods.

Not too far from you and I'm new to hanging myself. Been hanging for 2+ months. First overnight backpacking trip with it next week I hope.
