    Asym Mod

So, this idea was kicking around in my head and I forgot about it till El Dutch came out with his new tarp. I like using asym tarps for summer but don't like the coverage, when it rains i end up adding my poncho for a bit of help. ill shut up. heres the pics.

Pretty sure i can go porch mode, but didn't try so. I don't think i will add to the other side as i can use my poncho if need be. All in all I'm happy with it.

Nice. Can you briefly explain the process to make this?

Started with a Hennessy asym tarp. Measured out the dimensions for the add on. 94"x78"x50" hemmed the sil and reenforced the corner, minus the portion attached to the tarp. From there I sewed the sil onto the tarp in the same manner you would when making a big tarp and joining 2 big pieces. I used 1/2" grosgrain for the pullouts/ tarp ties and spaced them out every so feet. I didn't measure that. I was originally going to sew some line where the 2 pieces meet to tie the new part up but decided on the grosgrain as it would serve multi purpose so I made giant loops with half on the inside, half on the outside wall. If that makes sense. . Set it up in the yard, played around with it a bit, took some pics then a nap. All in all took about 2.5hrs to design and make.

Thanks man. Since you reminded me of it, I will let you and only you make and sell it in exchange for a life time supply of bling. Haha

Very cool, thanks. I'm glad you included the nap in the process!! It's becoming clear I need to get a sewing machine, or find someone who can do such things for me.

My sewing skills are sub par. found a deal at goodwill for a thread injector with a bunch of stuff for $20. My grandmother was a seamstress during ww2 and onward, she taught me some things when i was young but i haven't touched a SM till bout a year ago. other than stuff sacks, RL organizers, DIY costco TQs/UGs and a small 5'x7' tarp this was the most challenging. Sil is a PITA. But like anything else in life you get better with practice and patience. Get out there and create, your mind will thank you.
