My next one will most likely be just a simple tube (2x 55" wide x 124-ish" long noseeum sewn together longways) with a #5 zipper in one of the seams and drawstring closures on the ends. Maybe that'll be simple enough to still work.

Man I made so many measuring errors, sewing errors, and about anything else I could mess up on my bug bivies. If anything else I learned that noseeum is really forgiving and it is pretty easy to cover up your mistakes.

I think my next bivy is going to be clean and simple. Half noseeum and half 1.1 DWR ripstop. On the hot nights the ripstop will be ontop, on the colder nights I can put the ripstop on top. I may use a drawstring at both ends like you suggested to make it really easy.

LOL you folks are making me feel better already. I only bought two yards not three of netting. I knew that when I bought it but forgot this morning. Oh and it was 54" not 60". So I cut the material in half and put a flat felled seam in it to double it to 12 feet. I didn't read the instructions though and left only 3 inches when I cut it to fit the body, but was supposed to leave 3 inches on each end. Plus I totally forgot about the seam allowances. So now there are two flat felled seams .

And 18' is not enough hook and loop, per the book. My bug net is 9'8", that's 19' 4" on the long edge plus ~2 foot for the short parts. So I need to pick up 4'.

I found these instructions though very helpful if anyone needs them.

Don't worry no one will know unless you tell them. That's the fun of DIY gear. You have to look close to see that I added another 6 inches to my UQ due to the fact I thought I was 6" shorter than I actually am.

That's a cool idea, you could also set the DWR to either funnel breezes up towards you or to help block a cold wind.

Yeah, I think it was Jeff who suggested it on a thread somewhere.

[QUOTE=funbun;18878]1. My bugnet is a Mirage style bugnet. Basically it's sew two 60 in wide pieces together with stretch chord along the bottom.

Hey Funbun, you still using this bugnet?

Does the stray mosquito ever work his hungry way up along the sides?
This looks like a very simple solution to my problem.
Is it a pain in the kazoo getting in and out?
Finding that barrel-lock in the middle of the night?

    Has anyone tried this bugnet?
    Feedback?

I tried the tube of bugnet for my hammock that "let me down". It was a very workable solution in the basement, but I didn't get a chance to try it out doors before the hammock parted ways with itself.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
