    Motorcycle compatible hammock stand

Just thought id share some pics of the hammock stand i made to carry around on my motorcycle.
And before you ask its not even close to backpacker friendly. I don't have a good scale to weigh it but i'm sure its around 40lbs.

I plan on making a lighter version this winter. I made this one as cheaply as possible with materials i already had just to see if it would work.
I don't have a good pic of it set up ill try and get one next time weather permits.

Let me know how it works. Would love to have something I could strap to my motorcycle.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".

Interested in your project. Please keep us informed. That "H" welded piece is unique. Anxious to see how it all goes together as well as sourcing some of the pipe fittings.
    Thanks for posting,

I built a spurtle stand for exactly this purpose. it all weighs under 25 lbs and fits on the back of my bike.

at the time of the above post I wasn't able to fit everything in the case but have since been able to get it all to fit.

I'm waiting for the new tato stands to arrive tomorrow to see if those will fit on the bike but I suspect the legs will be too long. the spurtle stand is an excellent choice for a compact stand.

The H is both the feet for the poles. i didn't use any pipe fittings its made from 3/4 emt conduit. the joiners are made from an old car sway bar i machined in my metal lathe.
Its been tested by a 300lb guy bouncing up and down in a Walmart hammock.
I'm going to make another one out of non galvanized tubing emt conduit welds like crap.

Found a pic i took of it while i was testing it.
    stand with old anchors.jpg
It has different anchors and connecting lines in the pic. i switched to claw style anchors and whoopies.
The ratchet strap ridge line was just convineient.
