Great Video! Car camping is great, glad you posted this. Nothing beats being out in the woods, enjoying a fire, seeing the stars, and basically getting away from it all. Thanks Red!

I still love car camping. I sometimes take it a bit further and camp out of the Jeep. You can get further away from the mainstream - although, at least out here in the West, jeeping has gotten so popular it is hard to find real solitude.

Good one, Red. My daughter is coming down from MI in a couple of weeks with a friend and we're going to car camp at Elkmont in GSMNP--use it as a base camp to get out and explore some trails. Even going to have some friends come for supper one night and some possible night hiking. Yes, through it in the car and head out! It's still getting out!

Thank you FJRpilot,, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Any way you can get out is a good way IMHO.

That sounds like fun. I once did a guided overnight trip into the desert in a Jeep Cherokee and that was really neat, had to sleep on the ground tho' . I saw a jeep in Chicago last week that must have had $20K worth of accoutrements hung on it, gas/water cans, various racks and bumper things, the whole thing shining like a new penny, I told my buddy, " I'll bet that things never even left the city.

Enjoyed your talk and I agree. Sometimes we get the big plan in the way of just being out and enjoying the night sky or the outdoors.

car camper here! There are plenty of pull offs in the Allegheny National Forest here in PA that you can still get away from it all with your car, no camp grounds, no permits, no fees, just camping - love it

Thank you. I even sleep in my back yard with some regularity just to be out there.

Great video and those pics are awesome! Really like those river shots. What mic are you using to pick up your voice better like that? I need to find an external mic for my Go Pro and Nikon when doing some videoing.

Hi, I am GreatBigDave and I'm a car camper.
We most often camp with a trailer, and half a dozen three burner Camp Chef stoves with 20 lb propane tanks, folding tables, cast iron skillets, 52 qt coolers, and 30+ scouts.

Thank you Lost Woodsman. The mic is an Edutige ETM-008 that I run into a Zoom H1 then sync in post.

Wow GreatBigDave, sounds like you're on the car camping all star team! I just got back from the Michigan Fall Hang and those guys went thru 60lbs of propane this weekend, they definitely keep us well fed and well caffeinated.
    Good luck,
