    Rocky Knob hike and hang

After the wonderful MAHHA event I traveled south to the other end of the Michaux State Forest for a three night hang. There is a very large reservoir and some great trails. I hung next to Birch Run, a great little creek with white and pink quartz on the bottom. The rhodo forest and huge pines were just beautiful. Owls and coyotes at night and on my last night the moon was very bright. I took the challenge to climb up the giant boulders to the top of the knob for some wonderful views. Very steep with rocks as big as a truck but lots of fun. A very fitting name for the area. DSCN3972.jpgDSCN3987.jpgDSCN3991.jpgDSCN3990.jpgDSCN4004.jpgDSCN4016.jpgDSCN4017.jpg

Great report! I was there last month, and it sure is a pretty place for a hike.

I will tell you, I had a hard time getting in my car and driving away from that beautiful place. But just to know that I can walk into the woods in my own back yard made it a bit easier. As a matter of fact, I am waiting for a few showers to end so I can hang my hammock within sight and sound of my house. I hope I can hear owls and coyotes tonight as well. Just love all of it!

To tell you the truth, just a day ago as I walked back to my camp I was thinking if it were possible to meet up with you guys in my neck of the woods. For now, just a pipe dream, but who knows what the future brings?
