As some of you know i'm pretty new to hanging and i never thought much about winter camping till last week. I'd wanted to get out and do an over night when my tarp arrived but there's been delay's so that was put off. Then on xmas day i just had this compelling feeling to pack up my WBBB, stove, sitpad etc and head out somewhere for an afternoon picnic. I got down to the Little Slocan River and set up the WBBB, oops, wrong way at first. I want to face the river. Once i got that right i started making a fire in my compact wood stove,( love that stove). The sun came out and everything was glorious and while i waited for the water to boil i laid in the hammock and right away realized that i wanted to actually have a nap but didn't bring the necessary stuff, but i did have a short power nap. Ok the waters ready and now for a nice cup of tea. The river is partially frozen and beautiful as the water meanders its way here and there. The air is fresh, I'm warm in my new down vest and wool pants, life is good. After that day i've been out a couple more times at other destinations, ( forgot the camera), plopping myself down in the snow, making noodles and tea and relaxing on a fine winters day. I've checked out a couple of places for overnighters but need to wait for overhead protection and then maybe. So what i've learned is that i may in fact start to gear up for winter outings, why not , its beautiful out there. Enclosed are a few pics of the picnic and local area.
