For me, I hated having a big piece of metal on the end of my suspension when I was doing so may other things to try and save weight. That after I already committed to carrying webbing instead of rope and cinch buckles instead of knots. The only thing a biner gave me was that I didn't have to take my webbing out of my cinch buckles. That was about 1/8 of a pound to save a minute of set up time. So the DC made the tradeoff of convinence vs weight a better ratio. It also has a very cool name, it just flows. Also unless you get a good deal the DC are lower in cost. And if it matters to you, most of the biners I seen are made overseas. Plus 100% of the profits of the DC goes to suport HF for they are donated to the HF store at the cost of manufacturing them. 2 Questions and I donate all of our time and labor to finish them and he has a machinist that cuts them out at a discounted rate. So they are lighter, cheaper, smaller, made in the USA, and supports the HF community (cool name).
