yup 12/9 is when I'm going up. Hillbilly Deluxe is going to be joining me as well. Open to anyone that wants to come and help prep wood and the site. Information below is copied from the Midwest Backpackers Page on Facebook:



This trip is going to be about scouting out a location and prepping the site for the MN FBH in January. Anyone is welcome to come and it will be more of a base camping experience.

We will park at the lot on Hefflefinger Rd. map linked beow. We will then hike into the woods and scout for a location. I'll plan to be there pretty early, so we'll need to plan to meet at the trailhead/parking lot at the same time, or you can arrive afterward and follow the signs.... we'll discuss timing as the event gets closer.

Several of us are going up tomorrow to take a look at different spots. Will update next week with exact location Time is flying by and the FBH 2017 will be here very soon! We still need people to volunteer to bring some items. Please RSVP on the linked spreadsheet along with anything you plan to bring. Thanks!

The report I just looks like says it's not going to snow there until morning. It starts down here in Cambridge this afternoon! It's also colder where I am now - Elk River- than it is in Silver Bay!

The plan is going to be for the same location as last year. The parking is going to be the issue. I am planning on calling the plow driver next week.

I dont know how you guys do these hangs. My hands we frozen from the -20 wind chill today after ten minutes of taking down my gear after a nice afternoon hang nap. Depending on temps, ill think about coming.
