If anybody is looking for a reason to stick around Sunday the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon teams will be coming through Finland between 3-5pm Sunday.

Unfortunately I can't stay that late but may leave earlier Sunday to make it to Two Harbor's to see the teams start at 11am.

It's a snowmobile trail, so partially packed from them. Easy with snowshoes or skis, but doable with a little more effort even without. It parallels the actual road for a while before turning off into the woods, so you can also drive down at least halfway and dump your gear if you want to save how far you have to haul it.

This is good to know, I won't get lost wandering through the woods. I just have to follow the road. With a week to go I hope we get some snow instead of rain.

Not sure how the weather has been up on the north shore, but at this rate we'll need hip boots to walk in! Over half of our snow here in central Wi is gone already, with temps well above freezing all next week. Forecast is calling for a cool down by our weekend, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I always bring the FUBB to cold weather hangs. So he's covered for sure.
FUBB = F'd Up Buddy Bag, which usually includes at least one 20f quilt set, a tarp, straps and some insulated clothing just in case.
It has proved very useful in the past few years. For others and myself.

I spoke with a coworker who was in Two Harbors today and he said it was raining and there was at most 1" of snow on the ground in the area.
Forecast shows a couple inches of snow Wednesday but I'm afraid it's going to be more soggy than snowy. More muck boots than snow shoe weather probably.
