Well, another great hang is over. Now to start planning for the 2017 Frosty Butt Hang first weekend in February.
We had a small crowd of about 12 hangers and 4 dogs. For those who were able to make it, thanks...for those who could not I hope you can make it another time.
Left home about 9 am on Thursday and we took our time getting to the park. Found Kingsford and Hotlips already there and setting up. PappyAmmos and OBXH20 arrived soon after.
Thursday was very warm and the skeeters were out forcing everyone to try their favorite flavor bug repellent. It did cool down some that night ( low 60's ) and made for very pleasant sleeping.
Friday was a little cooler and fewer skeeters. Dropped down into the 50's that night. Saturday was cool and it got down to 42 that night. Felt chilly.
Friday night was different as we had the first ever heavy rain at the hang for a few hours. The Terminator and I were using our Hammeck stands with our new Squidbilly tarp. We had about 5 people taking shelter in our tarp waiting out the rain. There were 6 Hammeck stands and 3 of the Squidbilly tarps in use at the hang. The Terminator did have some leaking issues on her side of the tarp and I had to switch out hammocks for her when her RidgeRunner got wet.
The Barred Owls were very active Thursday night and at least one was doing its killer monkey call right about our hammock set ups. Made us all jump.
Food was great and so was the company.
Sam had a great time and loved playing with his new squeaky Chewie toy ( Chewie is Meckies new dog ). At one point while the two were playing Sam could not find Chewie and finally realized Chewie was standing under him.
While walking Sam thru a very muddy section of trail, Sam decided to take off and it took me by surprise so I ended up in the mud and as slick as it was I was having problems standing up. Good times. On the whole Sam had a blast running around the area.
