Well, the Col. comments on the lessed gravity making the folks "soft" and the biologist mentioned their carbon fiber laced skeletons, and it is a moon orbiting a Jovian type planet- (anybody else notice the "great red spot " equvilent?)- which are known to be radiating more heat than they get from the local star (Jupiter does, at least), so the entire moon/climate might be quite tropical- witness the brevity of the local garb- seemed to be mostly decoration and a place to hang weapons...so quilts and blankets and such would not be required. the veined leaf structures could be the dead leaf skeletons reused, if they had the same carbon fiber augmentation. Just thinking out loud. KM

And here I just thought it was an uncreative marketing ploy to get guys to see the movie.

I saw it last night in 3D and loved it. We took a bag of lollies, sweets. (candy might be close) and did not eat one I was enjoying the movie so much.
Yea and those clothes or lack of.

Only somewhat true- mostly have too many astronomy books, and too much physics background- combined with a random access memory that looooves the tiny details..

    Hubble IMAX 3D

I finally got tickets online (Thu/Fri were sold out) and saw it Sat. Wow! IMAX 3D is definitely the way to see Avatar. Sound was the usual for a commercial theater: NIHL (Noise-Induced Hearing Loss). I don't know why hoi polloi thinks excessively loud = high quality.

Saw an ad for Hubble IMAX 3D (spring 2010) documenting the STS-125 final Hubble service mission. The 3D effect had the oribiter's Canadarm (boom) and Hubble projecting far into the audience. This will be a must see.

Finally saw Avatar in 3D (regular theater). I really liked it. Wouldn't mind seeing it again. Hammock scenes were too short .

Apparently the whole planet is tropical all the time? There didn't seem to be much poor weather to deal with. Would explain the lack of top or bottom quilts.
