Pad & Under Quilt together question

I have recently made a DL 1.6 HyperD gathered end hammock in order to use our Klymit Insulated Static V pads. After trying it out, I'm left wondering if all the UQ insulation under the pad is helping. This pad is good and warm when we sleep on it on the ground. So this leads to my question. Is using UQ's under an insulated pad doing any good or is it just wasted weight? If so, then the next question is, how to make the pad and UQ live happily together without any unneeded weight. I.E. should there be a pocket in the UQ that has no insulation in the middle of it that goes under the pad or am I just trying to make this too hard?

Insulation is additive. So if the pad itself wont keep you warm at the temp you're camping at, adding a quilt underneath will help. If the pad, or the quilt, by itself is fine then just use that.

Sometime using a pad can change the shape of the hammock vs when you lay in it yourself, causing a gap to the quilt (which means the quilt wont be effective where there's a gap). Yo may have to play with the quilt suspension to get it set up correctly.

The setup is good. It's super warm with 2 Costco quilts under it. I'm just wondering if all the down under the pad is necessary, or if it's just not doing much. One of the Costco quilts is seam ripped and the width is shortened to 40" or so. It's very puffy now, but just wondering if moving all that down to right under me and the pad is doing any good.

It seems to me the stacked quilt would be compressing the one in the middle. Meaning it's not adding much because it has no loft.

However, related to the pad and quilt combo, what do you mean by "doing any good"? Are you cold if you just use the pad? Then yes it is.

I have a synthetic UQ that is good down to about 45F. When I want to go to colder temps I add a 3/4" thick foam pad. It works, it keeps me warm, but I do sometimes have some condensation issues by the time I get up in the morning. Its good to about 30F combined. The UQ keeps my shoulders warm, the pad barely covers them and would not be sufficient alone at colder temps. So they do 'add' as insulation but coverage can be a problem due to the width of the pad.
