Rolling it up that way is convenient, but it also stresses the same places on the tarp day after day, which will create weak spots over time. ...

I've heard this before, but have never seen it myself or personally met anybody that has.

Nope. I heard it from "the old days" when dealing with tent floors made from the same material as Walmart's blue tarps...it definitely makes sense for those. Maybe it's not as important with silnylon...

I always stuff mine so I haven't tested it...just makes sense, though.

I can tell you that stuffing a Tarptent, over time, made a lot of nasty looking crinkles in the fabric that just will not come out .... and I have a couple of holes coming through on those worn spots.

I have to say that:
"Can I improve my setup?" is the battle cry of all Hammockers.
And judging by our rapid growth, many Groudlings shout this from time to time, then they switch to hanging.
