I just joined the forums and thought I should introduce myself. I live in Atlanta and have yet to sleep overnight in a hammock. In the last year I've done a couple of ultralight hiking trips with friends - the 100 Mile Wilderness and the Wind River Range. Given that I am married and have two young kids, I'm now focusing my outdoor time on local trips that are more oriented around my family. I encounter a lot of trees on the trail in Georgia, so I might as well use them.
I was first introduced the benefits of lightweight hammock backpacking by Adventure Alan's website: http://www.adventurealan.com/hammock...round-systems/
I'm in the process of putting together a simple hammock setup to try out this fall.
I've been impressed so far with the well-run forums and eagerness of the community to share ideas. Looking forward to learning much more from this community.
