    Thumbs up Hello fellow hammockers!

Today, in Iowa, is not a good day to hammock outside. It has been snowing and blowing for a few days now! I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I'm very excited to be part of such a wonderful and widespread group of hammockers. Thanks for having me. I own one hammock: it's a one-of-a-kind original from Mexico that I picked up back in 1995! I've never really used it so I'll be looking for tips on setting it up.. this summer of course! Happy hammocking and happy holidays to all!

does it have the stretcher bars, or is it the mayan (No-bar) style?
Welcome to the forums- you have a few days to spare, I hope?

Everyday is a good day to be out in a garden hammock. I love rugging up, and talking a thermos of hot chocolate and just swinging. All the best for Christmas and the New Year guys.

I'm south of you in Missouri and it's snowing, blowing and 15 degrees out now so agreed, not the best for hammocking. I'm new here too and have learned a ton just from looking around. Lots of great folks with a host of knowledge to share. Enjoy!

It doesn't have the stretcher bars so it must be the Mayan style. Can you get good stretcher bars? That sounds like a good idea. Also, what kind of stand would you recommend for a person on a budget? I don't really have any fully developed trees that could support the weight of a hammock with me in it! Thanks for the welcome.
