Sounds like a plan. I’m not sure about the long drive, but I’m open to ideas.

Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
Looking forward to coming back out again after missing a couple seasons. It'd be great to see more updates to the list of gathered hangers. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...Fgk/edit#gid=0

Still seeing if I and the wife can make it or not. Never been to the Deam Wilderness, but want to do some hanging with people who know what they're doing - we're brand new to hanging. If we park at the fire tower, its a 3 mile or so hike to the camp spot correct? Not a problem, just making sure of the route. We plan on bringing 6 one gallon water jugs with us in the car if anyone needs extra water.
Thanks!
Jack
I think it's closer to 2 miles. There are some switchbacks going down within the first 1/4mi, so it's a little more work going back out. Still a very easy hike. If you have time on the last day, I'd suggest continuing on to the east and doing the Sycamore loop. It's a nice trail and the only one in the entire place not trashed by horses.
Thanks for the quick response. We will probably have to make 2 trips to the car to bring everything we want to try out with adult supervision - several different hammocks and lots of gear for critique that we made. Just wanted to know about how far it was to the camp.
Im also assuming no cell service there either.
Thanks again!
Jack and Liz
Cell service can usually be found of course at the Fire Tower parking lot, and about 3/4 of the way up the spur from right behind the fire ring at the base of the ridge, in CV2.

Ok - thanks. As long as we can check in with our son and daughter in law 2x a day - our twin grandkids were born a month premature - they're home now, but we like to check in when we're not at the house. A short stroll back to the tower is good for us anyhow.

So with campsite #2 blocked, would the plan be to park at the Fire Tower and hike north and pick up Sycamore trial to the east then at the junction of "CV2" head NW to the 'fire pit'? Will the intersection of Sycamore & 'CV2' be marked in any way? Or maybe hike up the road from the Fire Tower to the entrance to 'CV2' by campsite #2 Thanks, Dave
I would just stick with the actual Sycamore trail from the fire tower. Such a nice hike, no reason to short it...unless you've got the kitchen sink! That lot isn't the largest, so a weekend crowd can jam it up quick. And the "no parking" signs along the road doesn't help.
I'm in! I missed the spring sure as he11 not gonna miss 2 in a row! Can't wait to see you guys. It's been 1 heck of year!
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
