Keeping your face warm in the winter

This may have been covered on a separate post, but I was unable to find it.

When hanging in cold temps, what do you guys use to keep your face warm.

I have a balaclava, but it feels wired breathing through the fabric sometimes.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

I use this one. It has a zippered opening at the mouth for drinking and/or breathing. Also made of wool (non-itchy).

Wow, that is some serious cold. I hope I never have to experience this kind of cold. I went on a short hike this weekend and overnight it got down to 42 and it killed me to get up and pee in the middle of the night I thought I was never going to warm back up.

You're blowing a whole bunch of moisture in to your quilt by doing that. On a one day trip it might not make much difference, but over time your quilt will become damp/wet and its insulating properties will be degraded.

Also, even if it is just a one day trip. make sure your quilt has time to dry out adequately before storing it to prevent mildew. That's good practice whether you breathe into it or not, but it might take longer to dry out if so.

Keeping your face warm in the winter

Yea I realize, but I always have an opening that lets most of the moisture escape, and rarely take the hammock for anything beyond a couple nights in winter. It's just easier to use other shelters in winter time.
