    Hi everybody

    New hammocker here.

I've been interested in hammocking for a couple years but I've finally got a hammock to start out with. Wife got me an ENO doublenest for Christmas. All I've got is the basic hammock, but she's given me the go-ahead to get the bug net, tarp, and other bits I need to start using it.

I live in East Texas, and there's lots of forest land around (3 NF's within an hour) to camp in.

Got a bunch of Texan's in this group ... hook up with them and go on a group hang sometime ... guaranteed to be a good time and things to learn.

... oh and go for that gear before she changes her mind!

    Welcome to the forums!
You should really try to make that Big Bend hang. Think of it as "Hammock Boot Camp". You'll be amazed at the things to be learned from the folks around here.
    Trust nobody!

Welcome! I lived in FL for 3 years, and still have some family there. Don't hang there very often, though...but we do have some FL hangers. I'm sure some will chime in or PM you.

Would love to....but I have two problems with attending.

    1. I'm a graduate student in environmental science. That means thesis work.
    2. I'm planning a vacation with my wife to Hawaii this summer. Travel funds are going towards that, and Big Bend is a solid day's drive from here.

Thanks for the welcome. I figured I'd run by here since there's not enough info for me on PBF or Backpacker about hammocks. I'm impressed so far, but I've got a learning curve.
