so, to follow up.

I found a fastener shop 2 miles away.
I told the guy my dilemma.

He ended up giving me 3inch hex nut sleeve anchors.
I combined that with a few washers and it is tighter than a frog's butt.

I have one more to install and I will repeat this method with the same exact set up.

I would have no issues hanging from one drop in. The wedge or sleeve would work fine as well, especially with multiples. I have lifted heat exchangers which weigh around 1000# and swung into place off of a 3/8" drop ins many times . !/2" drop ins are rated much higher. That with an I bolt and you would be set. I would never, ever do it with Tapcons. You also have to remember that the tension is not a staight pull out, rather on a downward angle. If set slightly in, it would be an easy hole to patch.
