    Hi From Cincinnati

Got a hammock for X-mas and looking forward to hanging with the best of 'em!

My son's Boy Scout Troop is big into hammocks and after joining them for a trip to Red River Gorge last Fall, I was hooked on the idea of hanging vs. rolling around on the hard ground. Been a ground pounder for 20 years and have rarely slept well, except in the winter when the snow provides a (slightly) softer substrate. Can't stand packing a big thick pad, so I've just suffered on the ground with a thin pad. With luck, my sore hips will thank me for going skyward....

So, I'm hoping to see you all out in the woods somewhere!!

    Welcome to the forum,
You'll find a lot of fellow scouters on this site.
So... what did you get for Christmas?
He is your friend, your companion, your defender... he is your dog. You are his life, his leader, and master. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of that devotion.

I certainly understand that "rarely slept well" statement

I got a HH Explorer Ultralight Asym with the Supershelter since I like to camp/hike in the winter. I went with Hennessy due to two main factors. Namely, my son's scout troop uses all Hennessy Scout models and Hennessy had that deal going where you get a free Scout hammock with purchase of any other adult-size hammock. He's a new scout in this troop and I wanted him to feel comfortable using the same gear as the other boys.

I lurked and researched on this site extensively to understand all the options and I greatly appreciate all the time folks have taken to post constructive comments and advice. This is the best forum I found for outdoor gear advice in general, not just hammocks. It seemed to me that folks in other forums are just so angry most of the time. I'm not a hater so those environments aren't for me. Things seem a lot more friendly in these here parts!
