Started with just my gear. Now wife and both sons have gear.
One tarp away from having 6 full setups I think.

Most my friends are raising babies or small children (not of the age to hike or venture away from the safety of the house yet ) the others are into other things, so for me it's all about me, If any of them wanted to join, I'm sure they would be ground dwellers do to the kids or lack of gear. But Hanging is such a personal thing what is good for you may not be good for _________? There is a learning curve, and the first few times are not going to be the best until you figure it all out, and may be x2 and hearing about it the whole trip if you are out of tune with your __________?

While I do have enough backpacking gear to fully equip 2 people, I only have enough hammock equipment at this time for one person (that one person being me). I should note that I don't intentionally buy equipment just so other people can borrow it. The extra gear just accumulates as I continue to upgrade my own kit.
So far, this has worked out just fine since none of the people I hike or camp with are hammockers. They seem to have no interest in hammocks, which I am totally fine with. If they need anything for a ground setup, they know I got them covered.

I bought a HH and received a free Cub hammock. Turns out the fiancé really likes to hammock camp. We've since made under quilts and have car camped multiple times. I just ordered a HG 40 degree Burrow for her birthday/Christmas present.
Really enjoy having her along camping and we've both decided it's more comfy than tent camping.

I'm still enjoying my introductory gear, but I am slowly adding better stuff. With every new item I attain, I do so with the intention of eventually taking my son along (now 2-yr old).
If the wife and both kids come a long, I set up my hammock next to their tent with air mattress, etc. My stuff gets packed in my backpack which easily carries on my back. We take the SUV for their gear.
In my (unpaid) job as hammock evangelist, I have a range of setups. Three lightweight down rigs for hiking and at least another 4 synthetic car/canoe rigs. Always trying to drag folks out into the woods!
Usually end up loaning my best stuff and slumming it myself. Folk are more likely to be convinced by a comfortable, fiddle-free night (I have enough experience to fix little niggles).
