Thinking maybe doing chicken on my rotisserie over the fire one night or for lunch
How's this for a complicated bass ackwards plan...
Nobody pitches in for wood.
You buy all the wood.
You guys figure out how to get the wood there.
You agree to prevent Gallo from attempting to put the entire pile into the fireplace at once.
Now in exchange for all these responsibilities, costs and undue burdens...
Town's End Outdoors will "sponsor" the hang, or more accurately the kindly fella who thanklessly organizes, makes nice with the rangers, and keeps us all welcome at the I&M Canal.
So instead of me paying you back for the wood, I will durn near double yer money and "sell" you the $180 45* Big Guy sized synthetic top quilt you were planning to buy from me for free.
Now I may or may not even make the hang ... but I am currently making a few of the large size and can make sure one has your name on it.
If it ain't looking like I'm going to make it (or it's done sooner) I'll mail it out.
Now assuming yer still interested in said quilt and amiable to this here scheme what say you fella?
I am in. I hope my christmas indulgence arrives by then. Is there anything I should know about the trail itself ie is it snow covered or kept clear. And would someone please be kind enough to post directions from the Wisconsin border to the parking lot? I do not know the area well enough to be certain of my sense of direction.

They usually pulk in when there's enough snow, so my guess is the trail doesn't get cleared. You can also drop gear at McKinley Woods though I think you're limited to the upper lot this time of year, still shorter than hauling gear down the trail.
sounds like a plan justbill, do it!
Here are some directions: 26011 W Woodland Ct, Channahon, IL 60410 is a house at the entrance of McKinley Woods. Park in McKinley Woods and walk in your heaviest items (water, firewood, ...). Hammockers may be there to watch your stuff, or you hide it in the woods. Then you drive to Channahon Park, and park your car. Channahon Park is the first right after this house: 25332 S Canal St, Channahon, IL 60410. You then go to the canal and take the path towards the left. I believe you walk about 3.2 miles and the campsite is on your left (towards the river). I know the directions are different, but you can plug them right into your goggle maps or gps, and it will find the houses. I hope this helps. I am going to try to make this hang.
Yes, thank you Goobie. That is the parking lot I had thought was being talked about but wasn't certain; now I know for sure. Where do we pay the camping fee? Mckinley or Chanahan? Thanks Mark and justbill for such a sweet arrangement!
Thanks Fishbite.
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.
