    Me, from Cleveland, OH

Hello everyone. My name is Kevin and I am from Cleveland, OH. I don't have a hammock, but after reading a bunch of threads the last couple of days and weeks, I found a Walmart that still had a fabric section and have decided I will give it a try with a DIY one.

I'm not really a camper/hiker. I am a cyclist that camps while on tour. I'm probably the least camping informed person here. I thought a hammock might be a good choice instead of a tent. Especially with my arthritic knee, might make getting in and out easier, since I won't have to crawl on it.

    Welcome to HF Kevin....

Ive torn up both my knees from my younger days racing Mountain Bikes. Not sleeping in the ground sure is easier.

Hey Kevin; welcome to the forums. I arrived here a few months ago looking to start hammock camping for a few bicycle tours i had in mind. I ended up buying new because of the lack of material where i live and now having bought an UQ, tarp and accessories i'm now focusing on kayak camping as well. Its a good resource here with lots of helpful friendly folks who will show you how to save money while you spend it. Don't forget to check out the DIY and trip report areas.

I live on the west side, West Park. I am not originally from Cleveland. I was born and raised in Cincinnati.

    Thanks for all the welcomes.

Opie, good to know that hammocks are helpful on your knees.

I'll continue to read as much as I can. Unfortunately, it will mostly be a one sided conversation, since I have nothing to give back to the community.
