Did HG change fabric type recently?

I just received 3 quilts from HG today. Thanks for the fast service and shipping guys! The quilts are wonderfully made of course but my question is about the type of Argon that is used. Compared to my quilt set from this January the fabric on my new quilts is slicker, shinier, and more crinkly. The fabric on my quilts from earlier in the year was much softer and more textured.

I don't recall seeing any annoucement from HG about switching fabric types. I really liked the softer hand feel of the fabric my quilts from January were made out of. It may take me a while to get used to this new slicker feel.

Anybody have any intel on this?

Did you order the same Argon both times? There's a marked difference between Argon 67 and Argon 90.

Yes. I'm comparing 90 to 90. My older quilt has a more prominent grid on the outside and is very soft. The new one is slick and shiny. Whereas the old one felt more "matte" or "textured" the new ones are "glossy" and "slick"

maybe they're the same material, but one is "inside out" compared to the other? just throwing out ideas.

I never mentioned it, but I noticed this too. I have a Black Argon quilt which was never called "67" in the description. It was a new-ish thing back then so I don't know. But my new Argon 67 quilts feel different and one has more sheen than the other. Some have a grid, some are completely smooth with tiny "dimples" for lack of a better word.

I wonder if this is an issue with fabric suppliers in general, not with HG itself. A while ago, I bought an ORM from JRB and had some difficulty in cinching the foot end closed. I had thought that it might have something to do with a bit of drift in machine settings, but that turned out not to be the case. It was friction between the drawstring and the channel. It worked itself out after just a few openings and closings (and a little beeswax on the cord), but was something that hadn't been seen previously. The supplier idea is just speculation, but might be related to the differences noted in this thread.

I'm sure either HG or Dutch will chime in for further clarification sometime, but I remember reading about the differences on the forum before.
If I recall correctly (which I'm not promising), the weave of the fabric had changed at some point and maybe even the base of the fabric as well. At one point I believe the .67 Black Argon was a POLY taffeta while the other colors were tight woven nylon ripstops. Taffeta weaves make a big difference in feel and can seem like different fabrics completely.
Just throwing it out there if it helps jog someone's memory or they can find it on the site.

The top is older Argon 90 and the bottom is new. The grid is more "bumpy" on the top one and non-palpable on the bottom one. Is this a difference between calendared and uncalendared?

After some research it's apparent that my quilt from January had the uncalendered side facing out and my newer quilts have the calendered side facing out. I preferred the older way. Was this an intentional switch?

so is the newer quilt "inside out" compared to your older quilt? fwiw, all 3 of my incubators and 3 burrows are argon90, and they all look like your older quilt with the "dimples."
