Paul, is there a chance you might be selling Apex by the yard?

From what I've read elsewhere, Ron Bell at Mountain Laurel Designs is the only one currently producing anything with Apex. As far as DIY suppliers, they are supposed to transition over to Apex after their supplies of XP are used up.

We have been using the HL and it looks pretty consistent at 2" to me, but it is almost all gone so we will be switching soon.

And yes Jerry I will most likely add Apex to our list of DIY gear.

Yeah, I'd be interested in the Apex too depending on the per yard price. How long before you get some in? I'd like to get started.

No set date just yet, just bought up most of the last available HL and have to use it up first. Probably not more than a couple weeks though.

How do Climashield Apex and Climashield Combat compare? in clo? in R-value?

I understand Climashield Combat can be sewn from the edges only.

Got an idea what the Apex would cost?

On a separate note do I understand that you are asserting a 1.2" layer of CS XP would keep me as warm as a 2" layer of regular given that they are roughly the same weight?

No idea what so ever yet what the cost may be. Just know that it is the replacement and so that is what we have to buy, not by choice or other wise just - take it or leave it is the picture I am getting from my sources.

Not making any assertions to warmth from one to the next- loft dose play a part as dose weave density. I asked for specifics on the HL a while back (as Climashield dose not list any info on their site) from my supplier and they came back with a next to useless response from Cliashield about how it maters what is used for the shell and ten other variables what the clo would be in a product. All I am going on is real world reports back from customers.

I really can't say what the XP would do versus the Apex as I have only read the rumors and hype but have not yet had my hands on it-have not tested it- have not slept in a apex quilt yet. Once I do then I may be able to offer ---"here is my experience and take it at that" Of corse all the standard disclaimers apply--YMMV, HYOH, KISS, and so forth

I want to know more and see what it is like as much as everyone else out there, but till it comes in and is available (I will let everyone know as soon as my hands touch it) I am in the dark myself.

I'll wait to do my quilt.

Thanks for the details(such as they are).

I did read somewhere that Apex is less drapable than the others(XP or HL). Based on that, I think I'll go ahead and use HL for my UQ and wait to maybe use the Apex for a TQ.
