Great weekend in the woods with friends. Can't imagine a better way to celebrate another year than sitting around the fire with friends. A few were missed and we look forward to catching up with them soon. Rode over with Big Country and hangNyak arriving after dark. Meet Richtorfla at the parking area and hiked in together. Found MAD777, Great White and Bomber21 tending the fire. The first time I had to set up in the dark but everything went well with the current system. Spent the evening around the fire with the usual discussions and banter and suddenly it was midnight. Arose to coffee and various breakfast being prepared around the table. Some simple rehydrated meals and two beautiful scratch built meals by bomber21 and Richtorfla. Midday it was decided to stretch the legs and check out the creekside trail. It has been a couple of years since I had been on that trail and the views were surprisingly different. Due to possibly a controlled burn and maybe natural causes the scrub growth had been greatly reduced. Almost a blighted look in areas but the views of the creek were more numerous. Returned to camp for some snacking and napping in the early afternoon in preparation for the evening meal. Another food fest of some great food shared around the table followed by building up the fire and repeating the prior evenings routine. Most didn't make it until midnight and retired to hammocks for a great nights rest. Until the squirrels decided to voice their displeasure with my borrowing their trees. A quick breakfast of just coffee and packing up saw us on the trail out and heading for home and showers. Thank you my friends for joining me in the woods this weekend.
