Reflective Dutch Wire now available at dutchwaregear.com

We have been working on this for a while now. Dutch Wire has been a really big success so far so we wanted to come out with reflective version. It has all the wire-like properties of Dutch Wire but it is reflective. It is 1.3 mm and weighs just .4 grams per foot. It comes in 3 colors, Black, Orange, and Yellow. I am really proud to bring this to community as this is a one of the lightest reflective cords that I know of and with it's no tangle properties I think it is the best out there. Since it is thin and abrasive it works well with other cords as a pussic and make a good draw string. Also we bought a lot of it, getting us a good price so at $7 per 25 feet, it is also one of the least expensive reflective cords out there.

I sell Lawson also so it is easy to campare, both have some of the same no-tangle properties and come in different colors but Lawson has a few more options. Here are the specs...

    Dutchwire-
    1.3 mm
    .4 grams per foot
    $7.00 per 25 feet
    100 pound breaking strength

    Lawson
    2.38 mm
    1.04 grams per foot
    $7.50 per 25 feet
    225 breaking strength

Forgive my lack of knowledge. What problem are these two products specifically solving?

Just 2 different lines for your tarp, different diameters is the primary difference.

Reflective guylines, in my opinion, are the way to go. They only "glow" when you're directly behind the light source, plain old line when you're not!

Lawson reflective cord has been the gold standard of reflective line. The biggest problem I see reflective line solving is visibility. This helps in three ways for me. First is for my bear bag, I like to be able to shine my headlight on my bear rope at night to make use no critters, big or large are eating my snickers. I also like something reflective on my hammock. I have more than once camped and went to eat dinner away from my hammock then by the time I am done, it is dark and everything looks different. A reflective CRL makes that chore a lot easier. Lastly I like to have reflective tie outs, especially if other people are going to be walking around. Not only do you prevent a possible trip, cut also a loss tent stake or even a damaged tarp, if you prevent the sometimes no to sober camper or running boyscout form tripping on your line.

The Reflective Dutch Wire is just a better, lighter more compact way of doing the above.

Dutch, do you recommend Reflective Dutchwire over your 1.8mm Reflect It if compatibility with hardware is not an issue?

Depends on what your needs are. If you want the clean look of splicing then you have to go with reflect it. Refelctive Dutch Wire is lighter and has the no tangle properties that make it excel in that category. So I would say if you don't want it to work with the fleas and flyz and don't want the clean look of splicing, go with Reflective Dutch Wire. Dutch Wire will work with the Worms and I think it is the ultimate tie out line.

When Dutch announced the original Dutch Wire, he said that this line is too thin for Line Lock 3s (but will work for the triangle line locks). He did allude though to working on new hardware for this wire. So maybe check back in two weeks.
