The Dismount - specifically in wet weather

I finally got out with the AMOK Draumur 3.0 in fairly cold conditions (20 degrees)... and figured out what I did wrong the first night so after the 2nd night being pretty happy I think i will be using it again.

I have the Warbonnet GT as my tarp... I still get some breeze under there but I should stay fairly dry.

But what I really can't sort out is if it is raining how I can hop out of the thing to take a pee... thankfully it was dry but i was thinking if I leave a mat out it will probably be wet and I have limited quantities of socks... i can't use 1 pair per pee break.

do you all hang the boots from the ridge line or something so you can reach them from the hammock? or am I setting mine a tad too high off the ground?

What do you all suppose I am doing wrong? I want to have a better idea before I do it in harsher conditions.

Obligatory photo... yes I know this is not the ideal spot for putting on boots.. the first night was more normal this is a "hey guys... you are stuck to flat surfaces... I can be ANYWHERE" proof to my buds... set up over a 5-6 foot boulder... had to skip the tarp though.. no where to stake in ;-p

My hammock is usually ~12-18" off of the ground. I leave my shoes on the ground, and just put them on to pee.

I nearly always have crocks for water crossings with me and I wear them around camp. So when I get up my crocks are right below my feet to use for late night tree watering.

    I made a ground mat I lay down. It's about 18 x 18".
When the weather is bad I keep it in my UQP and pull it out when needed. I made a bag that I keep my boots in. I usually end up using a compactor bag in the snow.

I found that having a "pee bottle" is my key to a great night in the hammock.

I normally just lean over the side and let freedom ring... I don't guess that would work in a draumr, though... although on my second to last outing I didn't realize that I had kicked my shirt out of my hammock. Wound up soaking it. I was not happy in the morning. So now I will be checking the ground from here on out before I go.

I have started using a piece of Tyvek for the ground and put my boots on it. Isn't critter proof, but keeps them off the ground and I can stand on it in rainy situations.
