a little of ed speer's history...

i thought a few of you might find this interesting.

tonight on the history channel (10pm EST... NC,USA)there will be a
program that ed had told us about at hot springs.
the show's title is "Ice Road Truckers". it tells about the men (&
maybe women?) that drive 18 wheelers across the un-beliveably cold ice
    roads of alaska.
quite interesting when you begin to hear the details.
what makes it even more interesting is that our friend & contributor
to the world of hammocking, Ed Speer has been there & done that!
ed tells us that few people have a clue what's involved in driving
that deeply frozen route. check it out. ...tim

I've seen that program before. It really is quite amazing endeavour. It takes a lot of coordination among many people to move so much freight across such dangerous terrain. But, since it's the only way to ship heavy freight to/from some of those areas, it's necessary.

Slowhike, please tell Ed the she-dino says she is glad he regained his sanity and quit driving on the ice roads before he became a popcicle! That was some scary stuff.....

Ed is the type to live his dreams. He came to manufacturing hammocks because he loves hammocks and it shows. This says a lot for his character IMO.
