I'm a man of varied interests. Flashlights, guns, knives, survival, wet shaving joys, cigars, pipes, outdoors.
I am 57 and grew up in Jersey. Started life in Industrial Chemicals, Dupont and Oil Refineries then off to building pharmaceutical R&D plants. Facilities and operations...maintenance and grunt work were my thing. Loved it.
Before the facilities management stuff I worked shiftwork..Gave me lots o time to be in the woods when most folk were out workin. I really liked that.
I was a groundling till ~ 5 years ago I fell off of a cooling tower and did some damage to my spine. ~2 years ago I decided to try out hammocking. Seemed like a good idea as it supports the back, unlike groundling. I just fell in love with it. Seein the stars thru my HH Explorer Deluxe neetting. Sway of the trees and the sounds that weren't distorted by tent walls. I won't be packin in to a few miles and hang. Prolly mostly car camping...I have learned to not sneer at car camping as I used to do when I was an avid backpacker...How your perspectives as you gain more life experience...gettin old hahahaha I must've read a post or article by someone that led me to this great community.
I am mightily impressed with the R&D goin on here with ropes, suspensions, stoves, tarps, on and on....

Since coming here I have a 2Q ZQ HH Zipper mod 3 on my mock. What a boon this is. And DUTCH Clips too
I plan/hope to attend my first hang in NJ later in JANUARY. NOT to sure how I'll fare with the weather. Even if I get to go one day it will be excitement meeting youse folk and seeing the different setups, stoves, pads, etc.
