    Gadget is definitely going to get my vote for the Hammy category of "Fall Near Fire of the Year".

    The "Hammies": Awards for Your Epic Fails!

    I read online that corners in homes generally have a stud which be used to put a hammock up on. I used my stud finder to check this truth and sure enough. I install and hang for around a week before 260 lbs of Buds goes barrelling to the ground, only eclipsed by the sonic boom emitted from the lag bolt bursting out of the corner trim. Wife ran in thinking I shot something. I learned that inside corners and outside corners are not equal. Also they stud finders lie to you every chance they can. Not my finest moment.

    I think that we each decide what we get the award for. If we feel like we have earned a Hammie(tm) then we have earned one.

    I suppose if we get enough entries, we could do a vote for the awards -- I'd think there would be multiple awards:
    * worse injury
    * most unique fail
    * funniest
    * best documented (as in, with video)
    * scariest/most dangerous
    * biggest DUH moment

    and so on...

    I posted this in another thread but I'm nominating my younger brother

    I talked my brother into joining me in warbonnet bliss, he's jumping from an eno junglenest to the xlc....he's about 6'2 230, not sure how he could sleep in the ENO, too small for him. Although I can attest to the junglenest's durability as we were doing a winter camp last december and I heard him ask me for help at about 1 am. i reluctantly got out of my xlc wrapped in an HG 20, man I was toasty.....walked over to his tarp to see him completely upside down suspended in the bug net of the ENO....Trapped like a fly in a spider web! after I finally stopped laughing I somehow got him flipped back over and out. we still laugh about this whenever it's brought up. no idea how the bug net didn't rip with his entire body weight in it! Great sale brandon, just wish the wooki was included

    After a long day at work, I came home to camp with my family. I set up fast in darkness and when I got in hammock to sleep--I got this funny falling sensation--I was tired and did not get out and check. In the morning I was inches from ground. My Phantom Grappler suspension slipped--as I'd failed to tighten prusik around tree strap. I've since changed to Kokomo combined hammock and tarp suspension. I'll blame this on David--since Phantom Grappler never makes rookie mistakes....
