Agreed with the above glowing comments about the trip. It was worth the drive even for a late arrival and short visit.

I loved seeing the different set-ups - especially Smokehouse's handiwork.

Next time, I'll try to get the school teacher in the family to play hookey so we can have more time with the group.

After everyone left we headed to Lost Valley - got to see some wild turkeys and elk just off the road. The hike up to Eden Falls and Cave was great and the sight was worth the walk. Thanks for the tip Mike.

    Now...

Y'all come down to Texas and enjoy some of our hospitality sometime.

We tried to hang with the group but when we got there Friday we were unable to find a camp area large enough for the 4 hammocks we had in our group. I don't know if doing it in a camp ground is what we were looking for. We ended up having to hike a half mile from kyles landing to set up. They wouldn't let us hang even 10 ft out of a camp site so we found it easier to do some hiking. We had a good place to hang right by the water and surrounded by mountains. Sorry we didn't get to stick around and meet anyone. We were there, just a half mile down the trail.

Sorry that it did not work out for the additional four hammocks. If we go there again we will need to claim more spots and or bring more hammock stands to take care of everyone.

It was decided at the hang that my screen name of stumo was lame. So from here on out I'll be known as SmokeBait. Those in attendance know why. BurningCedar was running a close 2nd. Oldgringo fixed the situation with a washing machine drum.

It's a fitting name change. Now I just need to stay on the opposite side of the fire from you at the next hang.

    Water Temp

I found water temperature data for the Buffalo River that we waded six times on Saturday. Looks like about 48 degrees.
Felt a lot colder than that.

I like the new name! I also like that I only came in second-place.
