Hi everybody! My name is Jake and I've been sleeping in hammocks during backpacking trips for almost 4 years. I've been lurking around the forum here for years. Thought would become a little more active!
I go on at least a couple backpacking trips a year, usually here in Arizona, often in the Grand Canyon. I try to plan trips around water in order to have trees to hang off of, but sometimes it's a challenge to make it work depending on the situation. Almost every trip I plan for the possibility of sleeping on the ground, and usually take a sleeping pad for my bottom insulation. Almost all the hammock backpack trips I've gone on have been winter desert trips (that's when I've always had the most time as I've typically worked all summer as a seasonal Park Ranger for NPS or seasonal tour guide with private companies). I'm hoping this summer to do some trips up in the forests and have it a little easier to find stuff to hang off of!
So that's a little about my hammock background. As you can see I'm also a professional guide/ranger. I also shoot landscape photography professional and am into lightweight mirrorless cameras (and I'm moving toward lightweight backpacking). Anybody with camera questions, feel free to shoot me an email!
I'm excited to be here folks! Happy hanging!
