Superfly sure is a nice tarp. Plenty of room, well made and pretty fairly priced.

I have the HH Ultralite Backpacker and the tarp that comes with it will be fine for some summertime camping (shade) and some of the lighter rainstorms. Having backpacked and camped at higher elevations and experienced what true rainstorms are like, I wanted to get some feed back on different types of larger tarps, especially with enclosed doors. These are two I am considering: the Superfly by Warbonnet and the Typhoon 30 D by HH. I like the latter for the velcro blast panels and wonder if the former's door(s) close sufficiently to keep out wind blown rain. Of course, all products have pluses and minuses, but feedback from forum members of what they prefer would be greatly appreciated. I must admit, although I would love to make one of my own (DIY), I am not set up for that. I loved Shug's tarp, but I am just not set up for sewing my own.
I would strongly encourage you to also take a look at UGQ's website, they have a Winter Dream tarp that is imo one of the best tarps with doors money can buy, the doors have snaps that are very easy to use and keep the doors sealed up nice and tight.
If you take a look juist at thier order status page you will see that i am not the only one who loves thier products!
The wife and i both just got new winter dreams and they are very nice.

My thoughts exactly-- love my superfly. Hard to beat the value of that tarp.

Thanks to all for commenting here. You've given me some great input. Special thanks and a "shout out" to Chesapeake as I now have a new site to ponder.

Thanks Shug. I was very impressed with your DIY tarp. Especially the way you designed the internal pole sockets.

Thank's for the input on UGQ. I am not only looking at the tarps, but they have some fantastic other equipment.

+1! I have 2 SuperFlys and they are awesome in high winds or bitter cold or torrential storms! They seal up nicely from nature's onslaught from any angle.
