Question How to finish cut ends on ReflectIt

I just ordered some ReflectIt to use to upgrade my tarp guy lines. I've never worked with the stuff before, in the past I've always used paracord for all my cordage. How do people generally finish the cut ends to prevent fraying? Do you just melt them? Do a spliced bury of an inch or two? Someone else?

I just burn mine, but I have also buried the ones on my tarp Ridgeline to go into my stinger.

+1 on buried ends. You've got a spliceable cord, so why not use that to full advantage?

I've actually taken to splicing small loops into the working ends of my tie-outs and spare cordage. That way, if I find myself needing extra length, I can quickly larks-head them together.

How to finish cut ends on ReflectIt

Hadn't thought of splicing a loop, I've been a knot guy. I was going to tie a bowline for my larks head onto the tarp's loop. But a spliced loops sounds fun.

I ordered four Hookworms attached to Reflect It from Dutch. They came looped on one end; and had a knot so it wouldn't slip through the hole of the Hookworm on the other end. It couldn't be any easier! I almost broke a sweat larks heading them to my stakes!

I'm not a hardware guy. I like knots. I tried the splicing locking bromels at both ends of 1 ½ of my guy lines. They do look nice, but not worth the effort. Tying a bowline on each end takes about 20 seconds, and I don't have get out any tools or worry about catching any fibers.

So just for anyone finding this thread in the future. While my initial tests of various friction knots did hold with the reflect it, under the weight of my tarp (which isn't the lightest) they did not hold taught for long, I think I am going to have to give in the the hardware route. Even with the hardware, this setup will drop just over a quarter pound from the paracord and knots I had been using.
